PRIMARY PURPOSE :
To provide instruction to students in all levels of community college transfer psychology courses, contribute to the development and oversight of the psychology program, develop curriculum, assess student learning, and provide student advising.
Terms of Employment:
• Full-time Faculty, 1.0 FTE, Exempt. This is a full-time, tenure-track probationary position commencing September 2021. Hours of work may include evening or weekend teaching assignments.
• $50,700– $60,000 per year depending on experience.
• Represented by the Faculty Forum Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Official transcripts are required upon hire. Applicants anticipating Degree completion must supply a letter from his/her university stating the degree title and that the degree will be granted by that date.
•COCC employees must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is being performed.

ESSENTIAL FACULTY FUNCTIONS
1. Provide instruction in a broad range of psychology classes, using approved course outcome guides.
2. Provide instruction across a broad range of formats and technology. This can include times of the day and days of the week, including early mornings, evening, or weekend, and could include classes taught at any of the College campuses, live, asynchronously online, or hybrid combinations of formats.
3. Connecting with students to provide individualized academic advising and assistance in areas of course selection, career planning, job placement and employment follow-up. This will include at least five scheduled office hours per week for student help sessions and program assistance.
4. Participate in program, and program activities, department meetings, curriculum revision, course assessment, program assessment, and program review.
5. Engage in regular professional growth activities, remain current in the field, and maintain current credentials or licensures as required by the program.
6. Participate in service to the college. This may include participating in College committees, taskforces, peer teams, and/or other activities.
7. Provide meaningful, professional service to the community, businesses, public agencies, and other organizations.
8. Perform other essential job functions as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC NEEDS :
1. Team player with interest and experience working with students in co-curricular settings to provide opportunities for professional development and academic preparedness training.
2. Candidate who can teach a wide variety of courses in psychology, and who may also diversify the department with specialties in one or more of the following areas: Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Thorough knowledge in the field of Psychology and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge. This knowledge is typically found in graduate coursework in Psychology and experience teaching college-level Psychology courses.
2. Demonstrable evidence of excellence in teaching all levels of Psychology typically found at a community college, including transfer courses. Demonstrable evidence of successful classroom instruction at levels appropriate for this position, and ongoing pursuit of activities designed to improve teaching skills.
3. Ability to adapt and use a variety of teaching and assessment techniques including the use of technology to enhance student success.
4. Ability to observe, direct, and oversee students ensuring safety in the classroom or laboratory.
5. Ability to work with and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with diverse lived experiences, abilities, and learning styles.
6. Ability to effectively use Microsoft office suite, SPSS, various course management systems, technology to teach traditional, hybrid, or online courses and other technology used in the instruction setting.
7. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members.

9. Willingness to travel and or teach at various hours and campus locations and formats including live, asynchronously online, or hybrid combinations of formats, as required.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:
Ability to work in classroom and office environments using computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Requirements for Credit Course:
1. Master’s Degree in Psychology from an accredited institution; or a minimum of 30 quarter hours (20 semester hours) of graduate credit in academic courses in the field of the primary teaching assignment.
2. One year of successful college teaching experience in Psychology.

2. Two or more years of post-secondary teaching experience in Psychology
