The UAFS campus is comprised of 77 buildings and facilities located on 170 beautifully-manicured acres and crowned with the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. Students who choose to live on campus may do so in one of two residence hall complexes, complete with a full-service dining center, or the on-campus apartment complex for married students and upperclassmen. Campus involvement is encouraged by participation in more than 100 registered student organizations, which includes academic societies, a dynamic Greek life system, intramural sports, and cultural/special interest groups. The UAFS Lions compete in the NCAA Division II Lonestar Conference in men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, golf, cross country, and tennis.

About the College / Department Position Summary

The Web Manager/Developer will consistently create well-designed, tested code using best practices for website development, including mobile and responsive site design. Working directly with the UX Designer/Front End Developer, the Web Manager/Developer will create websites and user interfaces, using standard HTML / CSS practices, while incorporating data from back-end services. They will optimize sites for performance and see sites through to successful launches, with an eye to minimizing future maintenance. Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, and other web services and program applications is essential to succeeding in this role. This position will also work closely with the communications team on major marketing and promotional campaigns; provide website support for campaigns; assist in the design and development of tools on related website pages to provide tracking and accountability for marketing efforts. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

•Ensure web designs meet current accessibility requirements
•Provide marketing website support for campaigns
•Design and develop tools on webpages to provide tracking & accountability
• Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork. Requires consistent on-time attendance.
•Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, web design, computer science or a related field. At least three years of web development experience. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements.

License(s)/Certifications Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education. Experience with CMS platforms. Experience in content migration, SEO /Accessibility Optimization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
•Demonstrated knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS 3+, and PHP
•Demonstrated knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and testing
•Ability to develop front-end and back-end web architecture
•Ability to migrate content
•Ability to develop APIs
•Demonstrated knowledge of JavaScript libraries like jQuery
•Demonstrated ability to build websites that are responsive across desktop, tablets and mobile devices
•Demonstrated ability writing clean and maintainable code
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
•Demonstrated project leadership
•Ability to brainstorm creative solutions to problems

Special Job Dimensions

Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Must be able to visit departments across campus and meet with clients, as well as communicate well by phone and email. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 10 pounds. Occasional travel may be required.

Work Schedule

Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime required.

Salary Low to Mid 60's, Commensurate with education and experience Benefits
