Bucknell University invites applications for a one-year Post-Doctoral or Post-Master of Fine Arts Fellow in Theatre through the Consortium for Faculty Diversity in the Liberal Arts to promote diversity at our nationally recognized liberal arts college in Lewisburg Pennsylvania. The Department of Theatre and Dance seeks an educator with specific research, training and/or a lived experience/identity that broadens our programmatic offerings and also offers support for students of color training in theatre arts at Bucknell.

Candidates must be committed to outstanding teaching and productive scholarly/artistic activity. The successful applicant will teach within the college of arts and sciences, interact regularly with colleagues and students, and receive mentorship from department colleagues. Post includes teaching in the BA theatre program with opportunities to direct and assist other directors of color. Preference in directors interested in exploring culturally specific work with a small group of students of color. Required: MFA in Acting, Directing or Dance or a PhD Post-doc with directing experience, university or professional experience in stage direction, and undergraduate teaching of directing and acting. Teaching/research specializations could include:

● Antiracist Theatre Practice and Performance
● Black Acting Methods (if the post-doc has this specific training)
● Cultural Competency/Humility in Theatre and Performance
● Hip Hop Theatre
● Voice
● Playwriting
● Autobiographical Writing and Performance
● Black/African American Theatre History

Other responsibilities could include: dramaturgy and assistant directing for fall 2021 mainstage season plays Crumbs from the Table of Joy by Lynn Nottage and/or Appropriate by Brandon Jacob-Jenkins, both directed by faculty directors of color.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or MFA by the start date of August 2021.
