Assistant Professor, Allergy and Infectious Diseases (Gut Microbiome and Vibrio Cholera)

The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position. This position will be at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure due to funding) and will have research and clinical responsibilities. This position will have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30] and is anticipated to start in July 2021.

Duties of this position will include publishing in the field of research involving the relationship between the human gut microbiome and susceptibility to enteric infections. Specific areas of focus will include identification of gut species that may protect against infection, relationships between gut microbial species and mucosal immune responses, and defining how the gut microbiota may influence immune responses to V. cholerae infection and vaccination. This position will also include resident and fellow teaching of internal medicine. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Applicants must hold a MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible/ board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent). Successful candidates must demonstrate documented expertise in infectious disease research and immune responses. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
