Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic self-starter to provide expertise in application architecture and programming that brings together software design and systems operations in support of the school community. This position requires familiarity with the command-line and deployment automation, JavaScript and XML, as well as accessibility and responsive design. Responsibilities include presenting creative and proactive technical solutions to the challenges faced by academic programs and the administration, ensuring that NMH’s cloud-based environments are integrated and serve the needs of the institution, and providing support software development including installation, configuration, maintenance, and deployment as needed.
The successful applicant will have an Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Science or Data Science and a minimum of three years proven success developing multi-user software using MVC, modern JavaScript frameworks, Ajax, .NET, PHP, Laravel, and/or Python. Proven experience developing web-based application and interfaces (HTML, Ruby, CSS, responsive design, accessibility) and demonstrated proficiency with APIs (SOAP and REST) and structured data (JSON, XML). Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products preferred and experience with developing web-based database applications required. Additional qualifications include expertise with version control and issue tracking systems. Additional responsibilities include experience designating and developing shared databases and a strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD working principles and best practices. Familiarity with cloud computing architectures and environments as well as Linux and Windows server environments and network protocols preferred. Candidates should have the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. ITIL certification preferred. Occasional night and weekend work required to ensure IT operations.
