Position

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in sport management, such as Organizational Behavior in Sport Organizations, Sport Finance, Strategic Management of Sport Organizations, and/or other related classes. There may be an opportunity to add more specialized courses to the curriculum if desired. There would also be opportunities to teach in the Communication and Business Leadership graduate program. The regular teaching load at HPU is three 4-hour courses per semester on a 9-month contract. There is potential opportunity to teach summer and/or study abroad courses in sport management.

 

Additionally, the successful candidate will mentor and advise undergraduate sport management majors, serve as a faculty advisor for student internship experiences, maintain an active research and writing agenda, and provide service to the department, school, and university. Although sport management faculty are not assigned as academic advisors to the students enrolled in the minor, it is expected that the successful candidate will serve as a mentor for them as needed.

 

Requirements

  • A doctorate in sport management or a related field is required. ABD considered for initial appointment but must have Ph.D. in hand by end of first year of employment.
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Record of published research

Sport Management at High Point University

The Sport, Event, and Hospitality Management Department within the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication, houses majors and minors in sport management, event management, and hospitality management.
