Job Summary/Basic Function

The State University of New York ( SUNY ) College at Canton and the Center for Criminal Justice, Intelligence, and Cybersecurity invites qualified applicants for a full-time, on-campus tenure track Assistant Professor (other ranks considered) or a full-time, on-campus, Lecturer in Emergency and Disaster Management and/or Homeland Security beginning August 2020.
SUNY Canton is a College of Technology in the SUNY system. The Center for Criminal Justice, Intelligence, and Cybersecurity is in the School of Science, Health, and Criminal Justice and offers an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor of Technology in Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Leadership, a Bachelor of Technology in Homeland Security, and a bachelor of Science in Emergency Management.

Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job

Duties:
• Teach online, face-to-face, and flex classes in emergency management and homeland security
• Oversee the Emergency Management Bachelor of Science program
• Participate in formal assessment of student learning
• Re-design and develop new and old courses.
• Recruit and advise students
• Monitor and improve student retention
• Participate in faculty committees and other service activities
• Continually develop and improve skills through professional development

Required Qualifications

Qualifications for tenure track: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in the criminal justice field. ABD status in a terminal degree program meets requirements for Instructor rank. Professional experience working in local, state or federal emergency management and/or the homeland security field required.

Qualifications for Lecturer: Master’s degree in relevant field of criminal justice and experience working in local, state or federal emergency management field required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have prior successful college level teaching experience in either the online or face-to-face environment.
