Summary

Manage and develop services provided for events and conferences hosted by California Baptist University by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.
1. Manages and oversees the coordination and execution of events hosted on CBU Main Campus. Events include one day to multi day meetings, conferences and camps.
2. Manages event scheduling and request processes using AdAstra Information Systems.
3. Manages Conferences and Events portal on InsideCBU.
4. Establish and implement short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
5. Recruit, employ, train, supervise, and evaluate Conferences and Events support staff.
6. Monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness and effect changes required for improvement.
7. Develop and manage appropriate departmental budgets.
8. Recommend and participate in the development of appropriate University policies and procedures.
9. Maintain scheduled office hours, with the requirement of a flexible schedule of availability at night and on weekends.
10. Works with Food Services as needed to support events.
11. Consistently researches to improve scheduling procedures and event services.
12. Coordinates planning of special events, including, but not limited to: New Student Orientation, Homecoming, Fortuna Bowl, Commencement, Intensive Training Weekend, Admissions related events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

 Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

 Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
 Excellent telephone courtesy knowledge and experience.
 Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
 Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
 Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
 Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
 Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
 Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
 Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
 Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
 Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
 Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
 Ability to be empathetic to the needs of a culturally diverse student body
 Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate student employees and/or volunteers.
 Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

Education and/or Experience

Four Year College or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
