The Department of Recreation and Wellness at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Coordinator, Operations and Aquatics (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will design, implement, manage, and evaluate the operations and programming of the JC Scrap Chandler Pool and the Student Recreation Center (SRC). This position will also oversee risk management for the SRC with specialized training and attention to detail. The responsibilities associated with the position are critically important to the success of the operation of the Recreation and Wellness department and the SRC. The aquatic activities and facilities serve as important components of the college experience for many students, faculty, and staff members of the ODU community. This position is responsible for maintaining current certifications and continuing education related to the recreation field. This position is also responsible for maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as ODU Athletics and contracted groups.

Required Education: Master’s degree in recreation administration, higher education administration, sports management, or related field or a bachelor’s degree in the areas previously indicated along with experience equivalent to an advanced degree. First Aid, CPR, AED, and Lifeguard certifications. Possession of ability to acquire a valid Virginia State driver’s license.

Required Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in aquatics management, facility operations, and programming. Strong background in risk assessment and risk management, particularly as it relates to aquatic facility management and activities. Demonstrated experience with American Red Cross water safety programs and educational requirements. Excellent organizational, management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other individuals and departments on campus and in the surrounding community. Demonstrated computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet, and/or graphic software programs.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a University or collegiate setting.
