St. Lawrence University invites applications for an Executive Director of NYC Internships and Laurentian Engagement Associate position. The Executive Director will be based in New York City with responsibility for two main components: developing, maintaining, and advising students in the New York City Semester about internship placements at leading organizations in the city, especially in the fields of finance and the arts; and developing and expanding relationships with Laurentians in NYC. The Executive Director will have a dual reporting relationship to the Associate Dean for International and Intercultural Studies and the Executive Director of Laurentian Engagement and Annual Giving.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating a wide range of internship opportunities for students on St. Lawrence’s NYC Semester Program, focusing on the city’s most prominent firms and organizations. We expect the individual will develop and maintain ongoing relationships with internship sponsors; work with students to advise them about opportunities and place them in internships appropriate to their academic interests, ensuring that all students accepted to the program are placed; and coordinate with both internship sponsors and students to ensure effective mentorship and substantial learning experiences for students. Assist the program faculty director to support program activities, particularly in coordinating alumni contacts with students and the program as a whole, as well as assisting with planning, logistics, and occasional participation in field trips and other program activities.

In addition to the internship coordination responsibilities, will be responsible for developing and engaging relationships with alumni, but also parents and friends in the greater New York City area, to develop volunteers to assist in promoting our internship and mentorship programs. Volunteers for other engagement opportunities will also be recruited. Visit and result metrics will be identified and coordinated through the Executive Director of Laurentian Engagement and Annual Giving.

The Executive Director will work primarily in New York City but will travel regularly to campus to help in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of student participants in the New York City Semester Program as well as on-campus University Advancement events and activities.
