Siena College is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness works in a collaborative manner with all members of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness is a central office that promotes evidence-based decision making and continuous quality improvement among administration and faculty, and supports data needs for internal and external constituents of Siena College.  The office is involved in accreditation, assessment, institutional research and strategic planning.

The Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness works in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness with a primary focus on implementing sound learning outcomes assessment practices and facilitating a continuous quality improvement process within academic and administrative units. This position will assume responsibility (as needed) for the Assessment and Institutional Research functions of the unit with the generation, analysis, and dissemination of evaluation and research findings. The position reports to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs – Institutional Effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to academic and administrative units in the development of assessment plans, strategies, rubrics, and other tools (e.g., surveys, questionnaires, interview protocols) that measure outcomes and yield data for continuous improvement. Guides units in using results to determine achievement of outcomes and the effectiveness of programs, curricula, teaching activities, and learning services. Provide feedback with regard to the academic and administrative outcomes assessment approach as necessary.
  • Work with college constituents to design valid and reliable assessment instruments (such as surveys, focus group and interview questions).
  • Extract, clean and compile demographic data from various sources including databases, banner and external agencies.
  • Prepare, analyze, interpret, and present data using tables, charts, and narrative reports for surveys and other data requests. Apply appropriate statistical techniques to answer a variety of research questions.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for information (in collaboration with the VPAA-IE and Director of IR.)
  • Support the Director of Institutional research in gathering data related to external survey reporting.
  • Assist in providing workshops and support for faculty and staff on best-practices in assessment.
  • Participates in accreditation activities (as needed).

 Qualifications and Requirements:  

  • Master's degree required (Doctorate desirable) in Mathematics, Statistics, Education, Social Science or other quantitative discipline with relevant coursework in statistics and research methods.
  • Experience with working with Student Information Systems (such as Banner) required.
  • Proficiency in the use of software for data extraction, verification and analysis and in working with relational database (MS Office – Access & Excel, SQL)
  • Skill and experience with descriptive and inferential statistics and working with large data sets.
  • Expertise with statistical analysis (SPSS, SAS or other statistical packages).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with outcomes assessment.
  • Knowledge of survey research design and in the use of survey tools (such as Qualtrics)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently and with a wide range of College offices and personnel and work on multiple projects at a time.
