Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinctive candidates for a tenure track Exercise Science faculty position in the Kinesiology Department beginning in August 2021. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Candidates must have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. Taylor University is a Christ-centered educational institution, and an evangelical, interdenominational covenant community committed to advancing life-long learning and ministering the redemptive love and truth of Jesus Christ to a world in need. Candidates will be expected to affirm the Taylor University Life Together Covenant, Statement of Faith, and essential documents.

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Exercise Science or a related field.  ABD will be considered.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.  Preference will be given to candidates with extensive teaching and research experience in Exercise Science or a related field.  The Exercise Science faculty are spearheading a number of university-wide interdisciplinary initiatives including clinical work in cardiac rehab, diabetes and chronic disease treatment and prevention, childhood obesity treatment, and infusing the Blue Zones® philosophy into campus. Many of the initiatives will be supported by a $1 mil Lilly grant recently awarded. Candidates with experience that have a strong interest in and can contribute to these types of initiatives are encouraged to apply.

The appointee will teach a variety of courses that may include Physiology of Exercise, Applied Nutrition, Research Methods, Physical Fitness Assessment, Physical Fitness Prescription, EKG, Therapeutic Exercise and Pharmacology, Biomechanics, and general education courses. The candidate should be comfortable with creative pedagogy including online instruction.

Involvement in a variety of interdisciplinary and outreach oriented health science activities is possible and encouraged. In addition to teaching, the appointee may provide student supervision/mentoring through, as well as conduct research in our clinical Diabetes Prevention Program.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of faculty-mentored student research and scholarship.  Active membership in professional societies, professional service, student advising, faculty governance responsibilities, and chapel attendance are expected.

The Kinesiology Department offers majors in Exercise Science and Health Promotion and Wellness as well as a minor in Coaching. The department has 4 full-time faculty and is housed in the Eichling Aquatics Wing of the Kesler Student Activities Center.
