Postdoctoral Associate (Neurodegenerative Diseases) – Tansey Lab, Department of Neuroscience,
The University of Florida College of Medicine hosts the McKnight Brain Institute (MBI) and the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disease (CTRND) and has postdoctoral positions in the lab of Dr. Malú Tansey in cutting-edge research projects using cell-based, as well as mouse models of Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s disease, and Frontotemporal dementia. The selected candidate will investigate how disease-related mutations or genetic variants expressed in immune cells disrupt endolysosomal traffic and lipid-signaling and dysregulate central-peripheral neuroimmune cross-talk and contribute to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration; and how to leverage this knowledge to develop new and more effective therapeutic interventions that can be translated to the clinic. The position involves interdisciplinary laboratory basic, translational, and clinical research using immunological and other methods.
Required: Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, immunology, neuroscience or a related field is required. Candidates are expected to be independent thinkers and have a strong publication record and experience in areas related to the above mentioned research interest. Effective communication skills are essential for interactions with colleagues and collaborators.
Preferred: Experience with mouse models of neuroinflammation/neurodegenerative diseases and familiarity with glial cell biology is highly desirable.
