Initial Schedule Times/Hours: Sunday – Thursday, 11:30 am – 8:30 pm (requires schedule adjustments for final exam periods and summer schedules)
When the Hunt Library resumes regular hours, the schedule for this position will be:
Times/Hours: Sunday, 11:30 am – 8:30 pm, Monday – Thursday, 1:00 p.m. – 10:00 pm (requires schedule adjustments for final exam periods and summer schedules)
Summary
Circulation Assistant (Library Access Services Technician), Sunday-Thursday, afternoon-evening
Embry-Riddle’s Hunt Library seeks applicants to perform public services duties at the circulation (public service) desk. The Access Services Technician co-supervises the Sunday through Thursday afternoon-evening hours of the Hunt Library’s Access Services Department including responsibility for building security. Assists in hiring and scheduling student assistants; prepares media equipment for delivery to classrooms and patron pick-up; and participates in departmental meetings. Initial work hours are Sunday - Thursday, 11:30 am – 8:30 pm. Schedule adjustments are required for final exam periods and summer schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Has sole responsibility for Sunday library opening (when the library resumes regular Sunday hours 12 noon – 12 midnight).
- Train, supervise, and evaluate 2-4 student assistants.
- Assist patrons with checking library materials in and out, communicating policies and procedures as necessary.
- Provide basic customer service, including answering directional questions and referring patrons to research librarians.
- Implement the library’s emergency plans during emergency situations or drills.
- Close and secure the building in the absence of the night-time technician.
- Monitor and enforce COVID-19 safety measures (Face covering, physical distancing, wellness checks)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Experience in front-line, public-facing service, preferably in a library environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Some supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling security issues preferred.
- Some college preferred.
- Some familiarity with video recording and editing software preferred.
