Job Description:

The Department of Biology at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) invites applications for a full-time position in Radiologic Technology to begin September 1, 2021. A clinical educator is sought with a background that enables teaching junior and senior radiology classes, as well as other courses that contribute to the major of a bachelor's degree in health sciences with a concentration in Radiologic Technology.

MCLA seeks a candidate committed to high quality teaching, mentoring and advising in the environment of a small liberal arts college, with a plan for scholarly work involving undergraduate students.

Responsibilities include Radiography classroom and/or lab courses as assigned, that do not directly conflict with clinical education responsibilities. They will also be responsible for assist the clinical coordinator in supervising students' clinical experience at the affiliated clinical sites, which may include visits to assigned clinical affiliates to ensure compliance with provided guidelines and support the Clinical Competency System of Clinical Education for the Program. This individual must be prepared to provide students with appropriate and adequate clinical supervision and instruction while in the clinical setting, which may include image analysis sessions with students onsite. They will assist Clinical Instructors (C.I.) in the clinical settings with duties such as completing Affective and Technical Evaluations on each student assigned to their supervision or aiding with simulations and assist technologists in the clinical setting by answering questions about competency evaluations. They will work with the Clinical Coordinator and Program Coordinator to Integrate clinical education with didactic education, participate in didactic and clinical instruction, and will evaluate students work. They will also communicate student's progress, strengths, and weakness to the Clinical Coordinator as needed, document clinical activities through the appropriate clinical site visit evaluation form. They will report to the Clinical Coordinator or Program Director all matters pertaining to clinical site activities and contractual obligations.

Successful applicants will be expected to support the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator to ensure effective program operation. This includes; participation in the Radiologic Technology program and Health Science major assessment process, contributing to periodic review and revision of clinical course materials, maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, student progress, and imaging techniques, contributing to updates of the Clinical Handbook, and continue professional growth through study, research, participation in professional and learned societies, conferences, and workshop attendance, and/or through contributions to scholarly. They will be expected to maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies by participating in continuing education programs and professional growth activities and documenting the ARRT minimum of 24 C.E. credits for Radiography credentialing. Furthermore, this individual will be expected to maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policy. The Program or Clinical Coordinators may request this individual to perform other tasks or duties to support the program, as needed.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • An earned master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education by the start of the position, or working on a master's degree at the time of hire, with a planned date of completion.
  • Documentation of two years' clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent in radiography
  • Massachusetts state radiography licensure by the start of the position


Preferred qualifications

  • Documentation of one year's experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program
  • Current certification in an advanced modality (M, CT, IR, or MRI)
  • Experience with education at a small liberal arts college
  • Experience mentoring, advising, supervising, and educating students at clinical sites
  • Knowledge of current clinical competencies required for AART certification
  • Ability to actively participate in advisory boards, student organizations, and system committees
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse students and faculty groups
  • Evidence of proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, evaluation, and instruction
