Job Description:

The Department of Biology at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) invites applications for a full-time position in Radiologic Technology to begin September 1, 2021. A clinical coordinator is sought with a background that enables teaching junior and senior radiology classes, as well as other courses that contribute to the major of a bachelor's degree in health sciences with a concentration in Radiologic Technology.

MCLA seeks a candidate committed to high quality teaching, mentoring and advising in the environment of a small liberal arts college, with a plan for scholarly work involving undergraduate students.

Responsibilities include coordination of clinical education and evaluation of its effectiveness. The person in this role will develop clinical schedules and supervise students' clinical experience at the affiliated clinical sites. This will include make regularly scheduled visits to each clinical affiliate, integrating clinical education with didactic education, which will include participating in didactic/clinical instruction, to ensure compliance with provided guidelines Evaluate student work. They will also directly or indirectly supervise Clinical Preceptors (C.P), who are employed R.T. (R) staff technologists of each clinical site hospital and/or outpatient center. This position is also responsible for coordinate the Clinical Competency System of Clinical Education for the program. The clinical coordinator will perform and/or evaluating C.I. performance of Clinical Competency Evaluations of students at clinical sites as allowed and available, conducting image analysis sessions with students at clinical sites, and monitor clinical attendance and evaluations.

The successful applicant will develop and produce, and periodically update written clinical affiliation agreements. They will oversee the production and distribution of the clinical handbook and collect and distribute radiation exposure monitoring devices and reports for both faculty and students. They will evaluate radiation safety procedures at each clinical site to assure student radiation safety.

The clinical coordinator supports the program director, to help ensure effective program operation; this includes cooperating with the Program Director in periodic review and revision of clinical course materials, participating in the assessment process and performing other duties as requested by the program coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator must maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, student progress, and imaging techniques. Also, maintain student adherence to all University and program policies, and regulatory agencies. The Clinical coordinator will also report to the Program Director all matters pertaining to clinical site activities and contractual obligations. The clinical coordinator must also maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies by participating in continuing education programs and professional growth activities, and documenting the ARRT biennium minimum of 24 C.E. credits for Radiography credentialing

Teaching responsibilities include Radiography classroom and/or lab courses as assigned, that do not directly conflict with clinical education responsibilities.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• An earned master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education by the start of the position
• Documentation of two years' clinical experience in the professional discipline
• Documentation of one year's experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent in radiography
• Evidence of advising and mentoring experience with undergraduate students
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse students and faculty groups
• Evidence of proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, evaluation, and instruction
• Massachusetts state radiography licensure by the start of the position

Preferred qualifications

• Current certification in an advanced modality (M, CT, IR, or MRI)
• Ability to actively participate in advisory boards, student organizations, and system committees
• Experience with education at a small liberal arts college
• Experience mentoring, supervising, and educating students at clinical sites
• Knowledge of current clinical competencies required for AART certification
