The Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions (subject to the availability of funding) at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates at the Associate Professor and full Professor level will be considered. The department is interested in individuals who will contribute to diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service, and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive educational environment. The department is especially interested in and values candidates who have experience working with diverse and underserved populations and have demonstrated a commitment to improving the diversity of their academic communities. The Department of Physics views inclusiveness and excellence as interconnected in the work of its faculty.

Topical areas of immediate highest priority for recruiting are: condensed matter theory including soft condensed matter, gravitational physics, relativistic heavy ion physics, experimental particle physics, and plasma physics including basic, high-energy density, space, and controlled fusion plasmas. Applications in other research areas are also welcome and will be given full consideration. Of high priority for all faculty positions is a commitment to excellence in teaching.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.
