Assistant Professor of Photovisual Communication and Digital Media

The Position: The Media and Communication department of Lander University invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Photovisual Communication and Digital Media, to begin August 2021. Candidates must be able to teach upper- and lower-level courses related to visual communication, web and mobile communication, and interactive media. Media and Communication has been identified as a signature program in the university’s most recent strategic plan, and the department attracts the largest number of majors in the College of Arts and Humanities. The department currently offers a general degree that students supplement by completing a required minor in film studies, media writing, public relations, speech and performance, or sports media. We seek candidates who will serve our current degree program and help to develop new programs related to their areas of specialization.

Requirements: Applicants must have earned a terminal degree by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will be a skilled teacher of undergraduates who possesses recent professional experience and the ability to engage students in experiential learning. We also seek someone actively pursuing scholarship or related applied professional activities; eager to engage in departmental, institutional, and professional service; and able to work collaboratively in a small department. Candidates must have experience with Adobe Creative Suite.

Application: Candidates should submit a cover letter explaining their qualifications and interest in the position, a current CV that includes contact information for at least three references, and evidence of effective teaching. Electronic submissions are highly preferred and should be addressed to Courtney Myers, Administrative Specialist for the College of Arts and Humanities, at cmyers@lander.edu . Please place “Assistant Professor Search, Media and Communication” in the subject line. Please address questions to this same point of contact. Review of applications will begin December 1 and continue until the position is filled.
