Assistant or Associate Professor of Graphic Design
Tenure-Track Position

Position Description: Lander University seeks applicants for a full time, tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Graphic Design, beginning August 15, 2021. The university has identified graphic and interactive design as an area of growth, and we seek a candidate with the experience and vision to grow our program, enhance our regional profile, and coordinate the development of a Center for Graphic and Interactive Design within the Art Department. As such, we are committed to offering a competitive salary for this position.

Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in Graphic and Interactive Design, Motion Design, Web Design, and/or Design History/Theory, as well as mentoring individual senior exhibition projects and portfolio development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Web Technology, UI/UX, and Motion Graphics. The candidate will actively engage in departmental, institutional, and professional service, student advising, and scholarly or creative activities. They must be an excellent communicator, a team player, and an effective leader who is able to collaborate with existing Graphic Design and Art faculty. They must also be committed to teaching excellence and able to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Lander University is proud to be NASAD accredited. The Department of Art offers a B.Des., Graphic Design; B.F.A. Visual Art; M.F.A. Visual Art; B.S. Visual Art with emphasis in teacher certification; and a M.A.T. Visual Art K-12 for initial teacher certification in art.

Required: Terminal Degree (MFA or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Visual Communication and Media, or related field, with a focus on User Experience/Web and Interactive Design, and research-based design methodologies. Three years of experience teaching at the university level. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in Experiential Design, Branding, Information Graphics, and Professional Practice. Special consideration will be given to candidates who also have knowledge of usability testing, HTML and CSS, and expertise in JavaScript and Web design.
