4 - INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS, SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK (JOB 16611)

The School of Social Work in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for (4) full-time, benefits-eligible, 9-month Instructor positions on the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus to begin August of 2021.

Instructors are fixed-term faculty members with the possibility of year-to-year employment at ASU based on continued excellent performance, the needs of the institution, and availability of funding. The responsibilities for this position are primarily teaching, but may include field liaison. The teaching load for this position is 5-courses fall semester and 5-courses spring semester, and includes both online and face-to-face classes.

Job Responsibilities

• Teach social work practice undergraduate and graduate courses using a variety of modalities such as in person, online and hybrid
• Advising and Mentoring students
• Grading and Assessment
• Curriculum Development
• Evaluating students' academic performance.
• Maintaining an environment conducive to learning for diverse students

Required Qualifications:

• An earned master’s degree in social work from CSWE accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years, post MSW practice experience
• Evidence of a strong record of successful college-level teaching
• Must be able to teach social work practice classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach introductory courses
• Prior online teaching experience
• Demonstrated experience in Blackboard, Canvas, or other online course management systems
• Experience incorporating current literature and evidence-based practice in applied setting or scenarios

• Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success as well as working with broadly diverse student populations

• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
