Winona State University and the Elementary and Early Childhood Education Department invite you to join our Community of Learners as an Assistant Professor of Elementary Methods.  This position is a probationary/tenure-track appointment with an expected start date of August 16, 2021.  As a faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching courses that include, but are not limited to, mathematics and methods as well as other areas consistent with academic preparation and departmental needs.  Additional responsibilities include (1) instructing courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media primarily on the Winona campus, but assignments may include teaching in areas schools and in online/hybrid formats commensurate with department, collegiate, and university needs; (2) teaching elementary mathematics methods and other methods courses; (3) working closely with area school districts in a clinical experience model, including, but not limited to planning for guided clinical experiences, aligning district and teacher licensing goals, and possible delivery of coursework at district sites; (4) engaging in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field; (5) providing evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities; (6) contributing to student growth and development including student advising, participation in student assistance planning, and review of student teaching materials and resumes; (7) supporting Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve; (8) providing service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university and greater community; (9) assisting with regular reporting and updating of programmatic accreditation and program licensing documentation required by the MN teacher licensing board; (10) supervising field experiences and/or student teachers; and (11) maintaining a 12-credit teaching load per semester. Minimum qualifications for this position are (1) an earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction or other closely related doctoral program OR candidates who will complete their doctorate within one year of being hired; and (2) a minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience within the scope of the license (K-6).
