Job Description

The Business Manager is responsible for financial management and reconciliation of University Scholarships & Financial Aid (USFA) financial aid funds and operational budget in full compliance with federal, state and university regulations. Under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director of Operations, continuously review USFA financial management business practices and processes for current as well as potential financial and other federal, state and university policy compliance issues, risk exposure and inefficiency. Participate in related functions pertaining to annual audits and program reviews by anticipating, identifying and minimizing risk factors in the administration of scholarships and student financial aid. Assists with developing and implementing policy and procedures, and ensures compliance with all university business practices. Provides support to the Director by providing analysis/management of institutional, state, and scholarship funds. Responsible for all state and campus-based financial aid reporting. Provides data analysis and recommendations for programs and financial aid packaging philosophy.

Required Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in accounting, business, or related field with training or experience equivalent to an advanced/Master degree level. Experience in accounting, financial management or financial analysis; experience in fund reconciliation, budget execution and financial reporting; working knowledge of large database systems; Demonstrated proficiency with current office computer software such as Word and Excel. Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles with the ability to perform complex reconciliations, analyze account balances and fluctuations, and create financial reports; ability to compile and analyze financial data and produce management reports within critical deadlines; highly motivated with ability to work independently; excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills; detail oriented, careful, responsible, and trustworthy.

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or advanced degree. Considerable experience in the financial management of programs involving complex, strict compliance issues; experience assessing complex business processes for risk and inefficiency and developing intervention and control mechanisms; familiarity with financial and accounting systems and procedures in a higher education environment; working knowledge of the Banner Information System.
