Full-Time Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Management

The Johns Hopkins University seeks highly qualified candidates for a full-time teaching position in The Center for Leadership Education (CLE). The CLE offers renewable, one-year contracts that, with appropriate review, become eligible for longer-term contracts and promotion to senior lecturer. All positions in the Center are non-tenured, but recently Johns Hopkins has instituted a new teaching professorship career path for which all full-time lecturers in the CLE become eligible.

The CLE seeks an individual with a versatile and professional background steeped in innovation, management, strategy, and finance. Experience in large corporations/organizations and/or consulting is a plus with an emphasis in technology commercialization, corporate strategy, and general management. An advanced degree is a requirement as is teaching experience at the college level. A successful candidate will have a proven history of:

  • Commercializing new technologies
  • Developing strategic plans and success in senior management roles
  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills
  • Developing new undergraduate or graduate classes suited to emerging issues


Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching, preferably with full-time teaching experience at the undergraduate level, or in corporate or graduate venues. A Ph.D., Ed.D. or another terminal degree is preferred, but Master's Degree holders (including MBAs) are welcome. Candidates must be engaging, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and be willing to work collaboratively with colleagues. Teaching experience as well as professional experience and success in a business, consulting or entrepreneurial environment is required.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
