Position Title: On-Campus Intern – Communications and External Relations
Department: Communications and External Relations
Reports to: Scott Harvey
Position Summary:
This position will be done remotely during JJC’s Phase 4 COVID -19 operations, and some responsibilities may be modified based on applicant’s remote capabilities.
The communications intern assists specifically in the creation of digital content, including video editing and production work. Photography, photo editing, and familiarity with social media is a plus. The communications intern will also prepare promotional scripts for the college’s digital channels.
Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:
1. Create compelling digital content with an emphasis in photo and video work that generates conversations through social media posts, tweets, status updates, etc. and further grows engagement on college social media channels.
2. Assist with maintenance, organization, and monitoring of CER content and accounts.
3. Work closely with Communications and Media Coordinator on daily assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must be enrolled into at least 6 credit hours at Joliet Junior College.
2. 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher
3. Good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities at JJC .
4. Must have completed one major course, prior to applying for internship
5. Must use internship as part of educational program or for credit hours.
6. Must be referred to the On-campus Internship by a JJC staff or Faculty member
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Suite.
2. Strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines.
3. Ability to work closely with multiple constituents, including faculty, students, staff, and alumni.
Physical Demands:
Normal office physical demands.
Working Conditions:
Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
