PART-TIME POLE CLIMBING DEMONSTRATOR
OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL LINE WORKER PROGRAM
DAWSON TECHNICAL INSTITUTE
Kennedy-King offers accessible and affordable, high-quality education to a diverse and vibrant student population. This position is responsible for assisting the Overhead Electrical Line Worker Instructors.
- Main responsibility will be to demonstrate the correct way to ascend and descend an electrical pole following OSHA guidelines
- Work in all weather conditions
- Prepare the electrical yard for all outdoor lab activities, trim brush and remove debris as needed
- Maintain and inventory the electrical equipment and materials
- Distribute equipment to students
- Prepare copies of instructional materials for classroom instruction
- Assist with relocating and/or adding poles in the outdoor lab
- Responsible for all safety policies and procedures
- Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to fingers to, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk; climb and balance; stop, kneel or crouch and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Graduation from high school, prefer an Advanced Certificate or Associate Degree.
- A minimum of a Post-Secondary Certificate in Overhead Electrical Line Worker.
- The ability to climb a 65’ pole to line worker’s standards.
- A valid Driver’s License is also required.
