Position Summary:

This position functions under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) and provides administrative assistance to clinical faculty and administration including coordinating complex daily clinical, academic, and administrative and research activities. The incumbent may also provide medical administrative program assistance to other department faculty and clinic employees as required.

This position requires excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communications and computer skills. This position will work with highly sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis and must be able to work independently, be self-directed, and be able to define projects and prioritize workload to complete tasks and operations related to projects with minimal direction.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- Minimum 2 years experience working in an office setting required; experience working in a medical office setting (such as a clinic or hospital) is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite products required.
- Experience with UW e-reimbursement system, U-Connect and Healthlink/EPIC preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
1. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
2. Strong scheduling, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
3. Ability to maintain confidentiality with patient medical records and student, faculty, and other provider records is required.
4. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using web-based programs including electronic calendaring software and be adept at learning new software as new programs emerge.
5. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

A criminal background check will be conducted.
