Part-time Upper School English Teacher Department: Upper School Location: Washington, DC
Position Start Date: 2021/2022 School Year
Status: Part-Time
Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a part-time (.40 FTE) English teacher to start in the 2021-2022 school year for its Upper School division.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to inspire and support students, a willingness to work collaboratively, and the energy to thrive in a fast-paced academic environment. An appreciation for adolescents and a sense of humor are also essential.
The most desirable candidates will also be able to demonstrate proficiency using digital and online platforms for remote instruction as well as proven effectiveness as a classroom teacher in a brick-and-mortar setting. Teaching positions at Sidwell Friends School are campus-based; therefore, this position requires teaching in person.
Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree in English (an advanced degree is preferred). A deep understanding of American, British, and Anglophone literature is also required.
