Auburn University Libraries invites applications and nominations for Instruction Librarian. We seek a creative, enthusiastic, and user-focused librarian, with a commitment to student learning, to join our Research and Instruction Services Department. Reporting to the Head of Research and Instruction Services, the successful candidate will work with the Instruction Coordinator and departmental faculty to support the Libraries’ information literacy instruction program. Information literacy is a core general education outcome at Auburn University. This twelve-month tenure-track position requires professional and scholarly activity as well as service on library and university committees.

• Coordinate, promote, and assess the Libraries’ online information literacy instruction program for first-year composition courses
• Coordinate, promote, and assess use of the Libraries’ instructional modules within the university’s learning management system (Canvas).
• Collaborate with faculty to provide information literacy instruction face-to-face and online, both synchronously and asynchronously
• Create online resources that support information literacy instruction
• Serve as liaison to programs on campus that teach and serve first-year students
• Collaborate with the Instruction Coordinator to prioritize and coordinate instruction-related projects and initiatives
• Provide reference services face-to-face and online, for the university community as well as members of the public

SALARY / BENEFITS : Starting salary of $56,410 for an Assistant Professor. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience/qualifications. This is a twelve-month tenure-track position. Benefits include 20 days of vacation leave/12 days of sick leave per year; participation in State Teachers’ Retirement System (mandatory); additional voluntary retirement plans available; health/dental/life/disability insurance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s of Library and Information Science, or equivalent, from an ALA accredited program at the time employment begins
• Commitment to developing the information literacy skills of first-year college students
• Knowledge of information literacy instruction best practices as determined by the profession
• Knowledge and familiarity with the ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
• Familiarity with content creation tools used for the development of online instructional resources
• Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development in order to meet changing user needs
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to independently initiate, manage, and complete projects, as well as to contribute collegially and productively in a team environment
• Dedication to inclusive learning environments
• Potential to meet university promotion and tenure requirements for library faculty

Desired Qualifications

• Instructional experience grounded in the ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
• Experience managing instructional resources within a learning management system
• Experience conducting information literacy assessment
• Participation in campus-wide information literacy initiatives
• Dedication to providing a user experience that exceeds expectations
• Record of professional and scholarly research activity
