Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor



Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 503055), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess (i) a Ph.D. degree in virology, microbiology or other medical science disciplines; (ii) at least 10 years’ work experience in BSL-3 facilities on emerging respiratory viruses; (iii) demonstrated expertise in the study of viral pathogenesis, risk assessment and virus-host interaction of emerging respiratory viruses (including human coronaviruses and influenza viruses), and innate immune signalling and host factors for therapeutic options; (iv) experience in diverse models for human respiratory virus study including human tissue explants, human primary cells and organoids; and (v) a strong track record in securing competitive research grants and publishing high-quality research articles.

The appointee is expected to work independently as well as with other team members; manage on-going research projects on emerging infectious diseases; consistently publish original research articles in high-impact journals; and secure external competitive grants. He/She will also participate in teaching and contribute to the enhancement of medical and healthcare-related courses.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
