Job Summary/Basic Function
The successful candidate will be expected to provide and ensure direct physician interaction and involvement in student education in both the clinical and classroom to ensure achievement of programmatic goals and outcomes. The Medical Director (MD) will work collaboratively with colleagues (within LU and LU affiliated clinical sites) and advise Respiratory Therapy Faculty on program objectives, goals, standards and laboratory equipment. Additionally, the MD will actively participate in program evaluation, curriculum design and program modification.
Minimum Qualifications
The Medical Director must be a licensed physician and Board Certified as recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties ( ABMS ) or American Osteopathic Association ( AOA ) in a specialty relevant to respiratory care, with recognized qualifications, by training and/or experience in the management of respiratory disease and in respiratory therapy practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Board certified in either internal medicine, critical care, pulmonary medicine, emergency medicine, or anesthesia. Minimum 3 years experience. Prior teaching in medical or allied health education.
Work Hours
Average of 2-3 hours per week advising or educating students.
