Postdoctoral Associate
Department of Humanities, Health and Society
The Department of Humanities, Health and Society in the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a doctoral training fellowship opportunity in community-based participatory research. The fellowship will provide training in grant writing and will allow for the development of writing and analysis skills. Responsibilities include data collection, data analysis, and preparation of data for publication in peer-reviewed journals, as well as manuscript and grant preparation. The Postdoctoral Associate will interface with the HHS Research Team and oversee some research activities related to NeighborhoodHELP. This will be a two-year appointment with the possibility for renewal or advancement to an Assistant Professor position, based on performance and availability of funds.
Minimum qualifications include a MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in public health, behavioral science, psychology, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate established mixed method research skills, computer competency and expertise in statistical analysis using STATA and related software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, M Plus, EQS), and excellent written and oral communication skills supported by a background in preparing publications, comprehensive reports, and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
Preferred qualifications include experience with community-based participatory research; demonstrated interest in health, social determinants of health, health disparities, and working with diverse, underserved, vulnerable populations; an established track record of original first-author publications; related computer skills such as qualitative analysis software, geographic information systems (GIS), social network analysis, or machine learning; and grant writing experience.
