Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing helps the university achieve its goals related to brand awareness and affinity, student recruitment, fundraising, and alumni engagement through the ongoing enhancement and optimization of the university's public-facing websites and digital communications. The position oversees the planning, design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of websites and digital communications campaigns, including the development and implementation of mobile platforms, email marketing, content/inbound marketing and other demand-generation communications and marketing programs. This individual will have demonstrated experience and expertise in creating, executing and tracking successful digital campaigns. The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing must have the ability to pursue projects from conception to completion and possess the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The position requires a combination of digital marketing expertise with technical proficiency in the administration of the WordPress web content management system. This role requires a mastery of email marketing, content marketing, SEO, and user-experience (UX) skills to reach website conversion goals and increase visitor engagement. The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing will report to the Senior Director of Web and Digital Marketing and will lead the digital operations team consisting of a developer and web content manager.

Job Description:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, computer science, digital marketing, information technology or related field.
  • Five or more years of experience successfully managing digital marketing projects with an emphasis on both organic and paid campaigns.
  • Experience with SEO campaign creation and implementation along with the use of SEO tools such as BrightEdge, Moz, ScreamingFrog and SpyFu to audit performance and provide reporting on digital marketing efforts.
  • Strong knowledge of analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Adobe Insights with demonstrated ability to create campaign reports, develop insights and adjust strategies.
  • Knowledge of email marketing principles and tools such as Constant Contact, Mailchimp, etc.
  • Web content administration experience using WordPress (CMS).
  • Knowledge of conversion optimization and user experience (UX) principles and methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to rapidly develop and implement solutions.
  • Hunger for innovative techniques, tools and emerging best practices.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and build consensus among non-technical clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and lead a team.
  • Experience directing the work of vendors and third-party agencies.
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate testing.
  • Customer service orientation with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in written form. Self-confidence and strong organizational and project management skills are essential.

Preferred:
  • WordPress development knowledge.
