Kenyon College invites applications for one or more Visiting Assistant Professor in Biology positions beginning in July 2021.
We seek broadly trained biologists with expertise in cell and molecular biology to teach courses including department-coordinated introductory laboratories and lectures, the 200-level Gene Manipulation course, other existing upper-level classes in cell or molecular biology, or non-majors or upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialty.
We also seek to recruit a diverse and inclusive faculty. The Department of Biology and Kenyon College invest heavily in mentoring new faculty, including visitors, through professional development and modest research support. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching, including the use of inclusive pedagogies, along with strong mentoring and academic support of diverse student populations.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D degree. A complete application will be composed of 1) a cover letter; 2) a ~2-page statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy that addresses experience with teaching diverse student populations, as well as how inclusivity is addressed in the classroom setting; 3) a Curriculum Vitae; and 4) contact information for three professional references. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website: http://careers.kenyon.edu.
Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2021.
Please direct questions regarding the position or the application process to Joan Slonczewski, Search Committee Chair (slonczewski@kenyon.edu).
