Overview


Employment Status: Full-time, At-Will, "Exempt" position, included in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

Work Schedule: Generally, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to travel within the U.S.

In support of the CSUSB Strategic Plan, the College of Extended and Global Education (CEGE) leads the campus' internationalization and global engagement efforts and serves as an outreach arm of the university extending campus resources to larger audiences by offering a variety of programs to local communities and audiences across the region, as well as nationally and internationally.

Typical Activities
Job Summary
CSUSB invites applications to fill the position of Assistant Dean of the College of Extended and Global Education (CEGE). Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Extended and Global Education, the Assistant Dean is responsible for providing strategic leadership, management, and oversight to the Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) department. PACE portfolio includes Summer Session and Winter Intersession administration, Special Sessions degree programs administered in partnership with academic colleges, as well as a wide range of courses and certificates for an academic, extension, and non-credit to serve the professional development and educational needs of people in the region and nationally.

The incumbent will be responsible for spearheading the development of new domestic programs in multiple delivery modalities, including hybrid and online, as well as strengthening existing programs. The incumbent will represent PACE and CEGE to external stakeholders, including local businesses, government agencies, workforce development boards, and non-profits with the expectation of building strong working relationships and connections that lead to the development of new and innovative programs that meet the workforce training, professional development, and personal enrichment needs of individuals and organizations in the region and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in a field related to continuing education, adult education, or other related fields.
  • Eight (8) years of experience with progressive responsibility in the field of continuing and professional education administration, including a minimum of five (5) years of administrative and supervisory experience with fiscal management responsibilities.
  • Experience with student advisement practices and continuing education programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with fiscal responsibilities, including developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience in developing and designing support services, including advising, and programming to foster student engagement.
  • Experience with preparing professional reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Experience with developing assessment tools, conducting data analysis, developing and implementing continuous improvement plans.
  • Experience with compliance and implementation of the university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing local policies and procedures.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in continuing and professional education programs administration with demonstrated experience in managing complex programs.
  • Membership and active participation in professional and continuing education-related professional organizations.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong and effective management and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated success in the promotion of diversity among faculty, staff, and student.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work at all levels in a large and diverse public university.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in advancing and implementing a strategic plan that promotes campus-wide cooperation and collaborations.
  • Ability to create and lead a team by maintaining a positive, collegiate, and productive work environment that promotes inclusion and diversity.
