Job Description:
Fullerton College Theatre Arts Department invites applications for adjunct instructor positions focusing on acting and voice, beginning fall 2021. The positions involve instruction in foundational, intermediate, and advanced acting courses, improvisation, voice and oral interpretation as well as opportunities to direct and/or coach voice, speech, and dialects for selected plays in the department's production season.

Courses that the position may cover include, but are not limited to Acting Principles, Movement for the Actor, Oral Interpretation, and Voice for the Actor.


Primary Purpose:
Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.

Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance

OR

Bachelor’s or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance

AND

Master’s in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities

OR possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area;

OR the equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

Desirable Qualifications:
Teaching experience in one or more of the instructional areas: performance, acting, drama/theatre, speech or related field.

Ability to collaborate as a member of an artistic team.

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Certification and/or specialization with any of the following methodologies is desired, but teaching history, professional experience and aptitude are equally considered: Speech (Linklater, Fitzmaurice, Hart, Skinner, Lessac, Rodenburg); Acting (Stanislavski, Chekhov, Adler, Hagen, Spolin, Grotowski); Movement (Laban, Alexander Technique, Lecoq, Suzuki, Viewpoints, Williamson, Stage Combat, Stunt Training).

Special Instructions Summary: This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date.

This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
