The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting one faculty member at the level of Assistant Professor, without tenure due to funding.

The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Division of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) invites applications for a Dermatopathologist at VA Puget Sound, Seattle. The VAPSHCS is a University of Washington-affiliated tertiary, referral hospital system with major research and teaching programs. The successful candidate will sign-out Dermatopathology and General Surgical Pathology cases, would participate in the autopsy service and would also oversee resident training at the VA for University of Washington resident trainees in Anatomic Pathology. The incumbent will also participate in the teaching activities related to University of Washington affiliation, and must qualify for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure (due to reasons of funding) in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington School of Medicine.

Positive factors for consideration may include, but are not limited to:

  • A demonstrated academic record of original contributions in a field of Dermatopathology
  • Experience with training residents and fellows

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

This is a full-time, 12-month service position [July 1-June 30] and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2021.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD or foreign equivalent and be Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, or Anatomic Pathology. The candidate should additionally either be Board-eligible or –certified in Dermatopathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified U.S. citizens).
