The Geography Department (https://www.csus.edu/geog/) offers a B.A. in Geography that features balanced preparation in physical and human geography, geographic skills and techniques, and regional study. Four concentrations within the major allow for specializations in human geography, physical geography, GIS, and planning (http://catalog.csus.edu/colleges/natural-sciences-mathematics/geography/). The department has strong ties to campus programs in ethnic studies, Asian American studies, Chicanx-Latinx studies, Native American studies, Pan African studies, LGBTQ studies, and women’s studies. Two department computer labs support training in GIS, GPS, cartography, and remote sensing, and allow students to pursue independent research projects. The department houses the campus’ Paleoecology Lab and nascent GIS center.
