Position Description

The Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington, Tacoma invites applications for Assistant Teaching Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position, with a 9-month service period that is eligible for a multi-year appointment. The teaching course load is 8 classes with September 16, 2021 as the start date.  

The successful applicant will be expected to teach a variety of courses including AIS, auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, and other advanced accounting courses. In addition, we are seeking candidates whose teaching interests will strengthen and complement the Milgard School’s core values of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in pedagogy, teaching, and practice. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in an urban-serving campus environment with a diverse student body, many of whom are first generation college students.

The School’s Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility and Center for Business Analytics offer opportunities for teaching, research and community outreach related to its mission. Qualifications

At a minimum, candidates must have a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting and have prior experience in teaching accounting.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a record of involvement, participation, and/or leadership within their pedagogical or practitioner communities that maintains qualification required for accreditation (AACSB) purposes.

In addition, qualifications include experience in curriculum development and teaching in multiple modalities, including online, hybrid and in-person.
