Assistant Professor in TESOL (tenure-track) beginning in August 2021


Northeastern Illinois University invites applications to fill an Assistant Professor position in TESOL (tenure-track) beginning in August 2021. Applicants must possess a doctorate in TESL/TEFL/TESOL, Educational Linguistics, Applied Linguistics with a TESOL focus, Second Language Acquisition, or another closely related field; ABDs will be considered provided the candidate is scheduled to complete the doctorate prior to employment. Teaching load is 3:3. The successful candidate: will be responsible for classroom teaching of University students enrolled in courses in the Teaching English to Speakers of English as a Second Language (TESOL) program; Will engage in research and service activities. The TESOL Program at Northeastern Illinois University offers courses toward the completion of an M.A. degree, a graduate certificate in TESOL, and undergraduate minor, and courses toward Illinois State endorsement in Teaching English as a Second Language at the undergraduate and graduate levels.


Application materials include: a cover letter detailing qualifications including a statement of teaching philosophy and research plan; a curriculum vitae; names and contact information of three references, one of whom would be able to address the candidate’s teaching abilities/potential; teaching evaluations if available; one or two samples of scholarly writing; copies of transcripts from all postsecondary institutions; and a sample syllabus from a class that you would be likely to teach.
