Position Summary:

Obtains and processes blood and other biological specimens from study participants following established protocol. Collects additional survey information as needed.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required; Training, degree or certification in phlebotomy or related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Proficiency with drawing blood and obtaining other types of biologic samples
Experience in human subjects research environment preferred
A minimum of 2 years of experience with similar activities preferred
Ability to implement complex lab processing procedures following strict protocol
Ability to work independently and set up temporary sanitary processing lab in a public venue
Comfort with technology (computers, cell phones, recording devices, scanners), experience with computer data entry and ability to key at least 30 WPM
Reliable, responsible, professional and punctual
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Additional Information:

Consistent overnight travel to other counties is required. Must have willingness to travel daily or weekly to assigned area
Must have clean driving record, and valid driver's license
Use of vehicles from UW fleet is required

Work Schedule:

The typical hours of work will be from 8am to 5pm, but some appointments may be scheduled evenings or weekends to accommodate study subjects. This position is meant to be full time, but open to the possibility of 50%-100%, if mutually agreeable.
