Qualifications

The area of Arts & Sciences in the Division of Online and Professional Studies invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer in Communication Studies.

This Lecturer position is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty role with a load expectation of 36 units in a 12-month period (typically 12 units per semester in Fall, Spring, and Summer).

Successful candidates should possess a terminal degree related to the field, although candidates with a master’s degree who are working toward a terminal degree, or have significant experience in the field, may be considered. Strong candidates will demonstrate confirmation of teaching effectiveness and exceptional oral and written communication skills. Faculty duties include teaching courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and professional involvement germane to the area of specialization.

Teaching Responsibilities

This position involves teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate area of Strategic Communication. Teaching opportunities are available in the areas of strategic communication, media effects, communication theory, research methods, digital trends in communication, communication ethics, communication management, programming and leadership along with periodic teaching in the senior capstone courses.

In addition, prior teaching experience at the college level (preferably online) is required. Extensive experience with Blackboard LMS is also preferred.

Other duties include regular course curriculum planning and assessment.

This is a remote position and does not require a local (Southern California) presence.
