The UAFS campus is comprised of 77 buildings and facilities located on 170 beautifully manicured acres and crowned with the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. Students who choose to live on campus may do so in one of two residence hall complexes, complete with a full-service dining center, or the on-campus apartment complex for married students and upperclassmen. Campus involvement is encouraged by participation in more than 100 registered student organizations, which includes academic societies, a dynamic Greek life system, intramural sports, and cultural/special interest groups. The UAFS Lions compete in NCAA Division II Lonestar Conference in men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, golf, cross country, and tennis.

About the College / Department Position Summary

The Accounts Receivable Manager provides oversight of key accounts receivable functions including the supervision and management of the accounts receivable services of the university, prepares and provides information required to complete the end of year financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles ( GAAP ) and governmental accounting standards as issued by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board ( GASB ), performs varied finance and accounting responsibilities, and designs and prepares ad hoc reports. The position works under general direction and is governed by GAAP, GASB, federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as University of Arkansas System and UAFS policies. The position reports to the Assistant Controller.

Summary of Job Duties

• Manages accounts receivable service operations.
• Supervises personnel within their area of responsibility including hiring actions.
• Serves as technical software expert regarding accounts receivable subsystems including troubleshooting,
testing, and providing system training for users.
• Oversees university accounts receivable functions including all required reporting.
• Provides oversight and review of all university accounts receivable systems including internal audit checks and verifications.
• Oversees all departmental cashiers and makes recommendations upon request.
• Establishes guidelines, sets standards, designs and recommends procedures for accounts receivable services operations.
• Advises departments regarding accounts receivable matters.
• Coordinates year-end closing functions within the accounts receivable area.
• Prepares, analyzes, reviews, and approves reports and financial statements.
• Designs and prepares new or ad hoc reports.
• Maintains strong working relationship with faculty and staff.
• Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Six years of related experience.
• Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements upon approval.

License(s)/Certifications Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and working knowledge of Banner and/or Workday.
• Preference will be given to candidates with accounting experience in higher education, particularly student accounts.

To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
• The qualified candidate must be technically proficient in accounting, understand finance concepts, and have a strong working knowledge and expertise in financial accounting standards and reporting requirements to be able to prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards. 
• The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written skills and the ability to communicate complex accounting matters to non-financial community members as well as collaborate with superiors, subordinates, peers and constituents resulting in trust and free-flowing communication to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• The desired candidate will be a problem solver who is solution oriented with a forward-thinking perspective that embraces process improvement and demonstrates this openness and responsiveness to new ideas and change and can influence others likewise.
• The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong analytic, critical thinking, and research skills who establishes and adjust priorities that distinguish the time sensitivity of a project and make necessary adjustments in order to meet deadlines in a busy environment with an extreme attention to detail and accuracy, and to provide strong leadership and management skills to ensure the accuracy of University financial information and finances.
• The candidate must be able to read and interpret laws, rules and regulations of moderate complexity and implement them appropriately.

Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds. Routine work schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional travel required. Extended hours are frequently required, particularly associated with fiscal year-end and student registration.
