Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a related field (e.g., Public Policy, Curriculum and Instruction, etc.). Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2021.
  • Ability to teach in at least one of the following content areas: transformational leadership, instructional leadership, curriculum development, fiscal and human resources, organizational leadership in urban schools, supervision and evaluation, and education law.
  • Demonstrated potential for, or record of, teaching at the college level appropriate to the teaching assignment.
  • Potential to develop a strong record of scholarly productivity in educational administration and leadership.
  • Practical experience as an educator in PK-12 schools and/or districts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Credentialed experience teaching in urban, public PK-12 schools.
  • Experience in PK-12 educational leadership at the Assistant Principalship level or higher.
  • Experience teaching courses at the PK-12 or postsecondary levels and/or guiding student research that interrogate systemic inequities.
  • Evidence of ability to integrate technology into learning activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in dissertation and/or thesis advising that may include, but is not limited to, the dissertation/thesis chair role.
  • Evidence of working collaboratively and collegially, and communicating effectively, with an ethnically and culturally diverse educational community.
  • Involvement in educational professional associations.
  • Experience with leading academic programs that emphasize preparing leaders for urban settings and effective education of underserved communities.
  • Possession of a Clear California Administrative Credential.
  • Familiarity with the California Administrative Credential and the California Administrative Performance Assessment (CalAPA).

Duties:
  • Teach a wide range of courses in educational administration and educational leadership. Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda in educational administration and educational leadership.
  • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings at the program, department, and college level.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty and staff in meeting department, college and university mission and goals, including involvement in shared professional development activities.
  • Actively engage in service activities including program coordination, student advising at the master's and doctoral level, and faculty governance.
  • Chair and serve on master's project, thesis and doctoral dissertation committees.
  • Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community levels.
