Description
Pratt Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who can deliver high quality primary medical care service to our students, including women's health, mental health, and urgent care. The NP will work to provide and document office-based care in a busy office environment that emphasizes collaboration with the patient in evidence-based medical care. If you have a passion for delivering the best care possible and can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of healthcare and wellness promotion, then this could be the position for you.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct primary health care, including women's health services and urgent care to Pratt Institute students with an emphasis on health and wellness promotion.
  • Conduct focused health history and perform physical examinations as indicated by patient's reason for visit.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Formulates medical and nursing diagnoses.
  • Identify and manage common-health problems, both acute and chronic in accordance with approved NP guidelines.
  • Prescribe a variety of modalities to treat illness and meet wellness needs including, but not limited to medications, nutrition, exercise, self-care instruction, and traditional nursing treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with health service staff in planning ongoing care and making referrals to other disciplines as indicated.
  • Participate in the development, review, and revision of nurse practitioner practice guidelines and development of standards, patient care policies, and clinical procedures and audit peer practice to assure the overall quality of patient care.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other treatments appropriate to the medical condition and in accordance with State Regulations.
  • Participate in the development of Health services policies and procedures, particularly those affecting clinical care.
  • Coordinate with other campus members as it relates to health programming.


Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing. Current unrestricted license in New York as a Nurse Practitioner. Certification as Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner. Current DEA License.

Experience: Three years of experience providing direct clinical services in an ambulatory care setting. Prior college health experience and strong women’s health background preferred.

Skills: Demonstrate a commitment to working closely with students and supporting a diverse student community. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
