Job Summary
Assistant Director of Computational Research is responsible for the planning, implementation and execution of activities required to facilitate the development of computation high performance computing (HPC) along with storage and networking practices that provide researchers the capability to analyze, model, simulate, and predict complex events of importance. The Assistant Director of Computational Research provides guidance on a wide range of services such as software development, data analytics, and parallel computing that assists with faculty led research. The Assistant Director of Computational Research provides influence on projects of wide-ranging complexity, from a diverse array of disciplines in the fields of biology, engineering, geology and geography, chemistry and physics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Perform technical tasks related to computational research systems
  • Coordinate and/or provide training opportunities for researchers
  • Review regularly and maintain documentation of computational capabilities for researchers
  • Coordinate operations and service for computational research systems with IT Enterprise Infrastructure
  • Advise and assist researchers in development of research proposals; provide recommendations for computational, sensory, storage and other instrumentation appropriate to expressed needs
  • Effectively coordinate matters regarding computational research resources with institutional stakeholders
  • Deliver Private (VMware) cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic need of the University
  • Administer a Scala Storage and NETLAB+ environment to support academic and research initiatives

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Required Experience
  • 3 or more years experience designing, executing and supporting (VMWare) cloud with hands-on experience
  • 3 or more years experience designing, executing and supporting Linux server

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with customers

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Technology or related field

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with administering NETLAB+ learning environment

Proposed Salary
$71,500 - $83,479
