Spring Hill College, a Jesuit, Catholic, liberal arts college, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Division of Education starting in August 2021. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor.
Candidates must hold a terminal degree in Reading Education (preferred) or a terminal degree in Education AND 30 hours of graduate-level courses in Reading Education (required). A minimum of three years of K-6 teaching experience is also required. LETRS training and a familiarity with the standards and programming of the Alabama Reading Initiative will be a plus for hire consideration. The candidate must exhibit potential for teaching excellence, knowledge of emerging trends in the Science of Teaching Reading (STR), and a willingness to support the Jesuit mission (http://www.shc.edu).
The ideal candidate will be able to do the following: teach four classes per semester; serve as an advisor to Elementary Education students; take on administrative tasks if experiences align (course release or overload provided, if appropriate); provide service to the division and college; and engage in discipline-related scholarship. Faculty may be required to teach evening classes as well as online and hybrid courses. This is a full time position with the possibility of a remote appointment.
