Under general supervision of U54 grant Pls/PD, conducts computational modeling and drug discovery studies In the Center for Biomedical and Minority Health Research ( CBMHR ). Specifically, responsible for computational and molecular modeling, and data computing of related projects and leading compound screening using computational methods such as virtual lead compounds screening from different compounds libraries, Including assisting with modeling for target Identification and validation, drug discovery and pre-clinical development, mechanistic studies for clinical trials, and PD data analysis. He/she is responsible for operating and maintaining software programs and Instruments; providing service and technical support to internal and external users; providing direct support to the CBMHR leadership, faculty, users and staff members; submitting reports, publishing and presenting data, and applying for funding. Responsible for screening active entitles Identified from in vitro and In vivo models, and determining the mechanism of actions of the identified active compounds using computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and other in slilico methods.

Essential Duties Summary

• Conducts computational modeling related to Drug Discovery and Pre-Clinical Development projects in laboratory activities including study design, execution of various experiments, data collection, data interpretation, laboratory supplies, and daily operations of the lab.
• Coordinates screening active entitles using computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and other in silica methods, and determining the mechanism of actions of the identified active compounds using computational methods.
• Coordinates and conducts assay method development, optimization, and validation process for drug discovery and pre-clinical development, drug analysis, and PD analysis.
• Maintains all CBMHR software, instruments, develops and implements record-keeping systems 011 program participants, staff, equipment Inventories and compliance activities. Prepares facility activity reports and program status to the users, university and funding agency.
• Trains Undergraduate and Graduate students in computational research skills.
• Publishes data, presents at conferences and seeks external funding.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range $41,976.00 - $52,470.00 Education

PhD degree in biomedical science-related field, with computational and molecular modeling background.

Work Experience

Requires more than two years of research experience working In the field of computational modeling. Requires working knowledge of computational chemistry, specialized practices, equipment, compliance and procedures. Required to have experience in pharmaceutical laboratory researches including computational modeling and drug discovery and pre-clinical drug development, animal care and handling.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Routine office environment.
Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects light weight may be required.
Use of video display terminal.
