Under general supervision is responsible for, but not limited to the following activities to support the Urban Alternative format; manage day-to-day activities to develop audiences for KTSU “THE VIBE” (new Urban Alternative station) platform content across KTSU’s main channel, stream, HD2 Channel, the mobile app and other digital platforms. The CED will also build community partnerships and engagement with the Target Audience during community events and festivals.

Essential Duties Summary

• Strategizes, designs, and implements a plan to build awareness of KTSU’s new Urban Alternative format, with an emphasis on targeting Afro- American and Latino/Hispanic communities. Develops digital outreach campaigns that will grow KTSU’s listenership, social media reach and engagements, app downloads and the KTSU website unique visitors. Develops online and social content, as well as oversee the production of video content on all platforms to build and engage new audiences. Identify opportunities to share and cultivate the Urban Alternative format.
• Works diligently with community organizations to host remote broadcasts and manage productions from venues and festivals locally and around the state. Collaborate with KTSU’s underwriting representatives to identify underwriting support.
• Serves as a liaison with the local music and arts community to develop and implement the Community Engagement Plan.
• Responsible for implementing targeted audience monthly community engagement events where KTSU Urban Alternative On-Air talent will host or participate.
• Works closely with the KTSU Staff, KTSU volunteers and interns to promote events and ensure the greatest attendance. Track attendance at events and collect feedback from attendees.
• Develops data driven weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range $41,976.00 - $52,470.00 Education

Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field required, or equivalent, relevant job experience.

Required Licensing/Certification

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

• Advocate for best digital practices, along with a positive and collaborative attitude to help create quality content.
• Beginning to intermediate graphic, editing, photo editing and blogging experience.
• Deep curiosity and excitement for Houston’s music scene.
• A willingness to experiment with new ways to showcase digital content and interact with people in social spaces.
• Willingness to learn various technology solutions for engagement, including Facebook Live streaming, Eloqua (email marketing software), etc.
• Passion for the mission of public media.
• Working knowledge of adobe creative suite.
• Banner and other job-related software systems.
• Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.

Work Experience

Requires three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in a broadcast area.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Routine office environment.
Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects light weight may be required.
Use of video display terminal.
Availability to work weekends and evenings to represent KTSU at community music venues, and festivals (requires working some nights and weekends).
