We have an immediate opening for a Research Postdoctoral fellow with experience in Biochemistry, and synthetic or Medical chemistry.
The Post-doctoral fellow is expected to work in a Cancer Stem Cells Research Laboratory at McGuire VA Medical Center/Virginia Commonwealth University.
The individual is expected to perform highest quality research in developing novel molecules and/or their novel formulations for targeting CSCs.
We specialize in developing and testing novel therapies to selectively inhibit cancers stem cell, the root cause of cancer-related morbidity/mortality.
The prospective candidate will be expected to forge collaboration with other post-doc fellows and research faculty to develop novel inhibitors or formulations of existing new molecular entities and determine their biological effects.
These efforts are expected to complement our ongoing CSC research program – Development of novel anti- CSC Glycosaminoglycan mimetics as well as cholesterol transport protein inhibitors in cancer.
The applicant will have an opportunity to participate in the cutting-edge collaborative research projects spanning multiple laboratories at VCU and VAMC . of other leading research institute members with expertise in tumor immunology as well as cancer and cancer stem cell biology.
The progress will be evaluated based on ability to perform quality work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate well with fellow scientists, and demonstrate the ability to learn and grow scientifically including preparing and publishing high quality scientific manuscripts.
Must possess the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a diverse work environment.
PhD degree and be proficient in chemical synthesis or nano-synthesis and experience with cell culture, western blots, and Flow cytometry analysis is also desirable.
