Associate/Assistant Professor of Oboe

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks an experienced teacher/performing artist for a tenure-track and/or Educator (non-tenured) faculty appointment in oboe, to begin Fall Semester 2021. CCM’s Woodwind/Brass/Percussion Department is a highly collaborative, multidimensional area of the Performance Studies Division offering the BM, MM, AD and DMA degree programs.

Responsibilities: Oboe teacher in Residence. Responsibilities include teaching oboe students on all collegiate levels (BM, MM, AD, and DMA), recruiting and maintaining a high-quality studio, and teaching studio-related classes as needed. Additional duties will include advising doctoral documents and projects, lecture-recitals, and coaching chamber music. A strong interest in and experience with community engagement, music entrepreneurship, music leadership, and/or other nontraditional career models is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the discipline through engagement in significant professional activities including maintaining regional, national and international visibility in solo/chamber music/orchestral performance, external masterclasses, services to the college/university/community, academic advising and mentoring students.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in music or equivalent training required. DMA or equivalent degree preferred. Comparable professional experience will be considered in lieu of a terminal degree; significant international professional performance experience preferred; college teaching experience at the highest level of excellence at the graduate and/or professional level with a proven record of student successes; demonstrated commitment to pedagogy and recruitment.

Terms of Appointment: Full-Time tenure-track at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or Non-Tenured Educator. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment Date: August 15, 2021.
